Motorola's Droid Copyright Issue

Here is the first commercial that caught my attention and was the inspiration for this blog:

Noticed the fine print about the copyrights?

George Lucas owns the copyright to the word droid?!?!? Even though it is true, it still boggles the mind that Motorola had to pay Lucas and could not come up with any other name for their phone. Does he own rights to the force as well?

Intro

This is a new blog dedicated to the fine print on television ads that are often funny, incorrect, or interesting. I will try to post a new one once a week and will include the youtube video and/or screen shot. I am not trying to advertise for these companies, just randomly notice these ads. Feel free to comment and suggest ones you have seen as well. Looks like I have to stop fastforwarding through commercials all the time.
